Intentions For System Changers
Jan 14, 2025As we start 2025, it is that time to set our intentions in terms of what we want to create as system changers this year.
Beyond Resolutions
I don't believe in resolutions - it feels too much like another thing to beat ourselves with as part of the 'growth for growth sakes' paradigm.
What I do believe in is:
- Listening to your own inner knowing for your true themes for the year,
- Deepening into what new vision you care to bring about the most at this time,
- Intentional creation based on the level of flow that is calling to you next.

Beyond Goals
The reality is that the path of a purpose-led system changer is different to that of a 'business as usual' leader. We don't really live in a linear clear cut KPI goal setting kind of world - even though we might have to pretend we do.
For us the measure of our success is more about:
- Our ability to be true to our real selves and what is in our actual hearts
- Our capacity to powerfully inspire the transformation we care the most about (without getting stopped by burn out, self-doubt and power struggles)
- Our progress in tangibly creating the world of tomorrow we want to see next
Beyond Performance
And for that a normal 'performance' approach doesn't work. You need something that supports the subtle ongoing dance of:
- Tuning into your own inner knowing and what is true for you now
- Walking your unique path as a system changer at this pivotal time of transition
- Consciously and intentionally crafting next chapters in your life, work and leadership
Honouring The Cycles
My experience is that our next level of potential, purpose and impact gets crafted and birthed through yearly cycles - through a process of emergence.
So at the start of each year, I take the time to explore what is the next true vision for me for this year.
The one that wants to emerge in terms of what I am truly meant to be creating - rather than force something my mind thinks looks good.
I find that it is important to take that time to deepen into what really wants to be born next.
Listening To The Whispers
In one of my group coaching calls recently, we talked about how important it is to not push forward right now - but instead to allow the quiet and to listen in.
From there rather than goals, themes and yearnings emerge. And if you turn towards them, they will lead you to your true plan for the year.
The Mind Plan v The True Plan
As I engage in this practice, I am always awed as to the difference between what my mind thinks we should be doing and the inner roadmap my inner knowing is whispering me to trust in. The latter always being much more aligned, creative and magical.
When I started the year, I knew that it was going to be a big year for the school of system changers - as it is getting a makeover. What I didn't know was what I was being called to at a deeper level.
The Theme For The Year
Your theme for the year lives in the deeper yearnings - in the more hidden spaces of your heart. Let them speak to you.
What the quiet had me see is that my theme for this year is restoration. And that my yearnings are around intimate spaces and connection, prosperity anchored in peace and deep love, living by abundant design, creating my world from a specific energy that I invite others into, safety and genuine care, depth and thoughtfulness, belonging and togetherness.
It has also showed me that I want to enquire much more into the concept of home and what that really means to me - at home in myself, a nourishing physical home that reflects who I am now, a like-minded community that feels like home.
That I want to provide what feels like a home for purpose-led system changers. A safe haven from the noise and the chaos that will intensify out there - where you can restore, be understood and get guidance. It is also about voice and using it wisely - both through writing and speaking to provide hope in dark times.
